Gamescom 2019
Introduction Gamescom 2019 was again a very special experience. Each year I’m thinking, I will be there way to long but every time, Gamescom feels way to short. I met with many folks like every year and also with a few new ones that I haven’t met before. Meeting others is for me one of the main part of Gamescom as you don’t get many opportunities to meet the people you only know from the internet in person. Gamescom again broke all records although it felt emptier than before. The additional hall 11 did probably play a big part in…

Gamescom Preview – The Settlers
After the seventh part of the Settlers in 2009, not much was heard about the game series (there was The Settlers online though). In 2018 the 8th part was finally announced and will be released in 2020. It was important for the devs to keep the best game elements of the predecessors and extend it with new things. The settlers arrive on the island with a ship and will unload a few start materials before they start building their settlement. Food sources can be fish, berries and meat from the animals. The production sites will need tools as the older…

Gamescom Preview – Anno 1800
The new Anno which takes place in the 19th century comes with a lot of new things. You can now have a Zoo and a museum which you can design yourself. Both can be build in a modular way and there’s also a blueprint mode in which you can build the whole thing without costs. When your done and happy with the result, you can build them and you are charged. There are several ways to get animals and objects for the two like trade. The main way are expeditions though. Expeditions are events, that you can play and get…

Gamescom 2018
Introduction Gamescom 2018 is already a thing of the past. Just like the past few years, there was nothing Sims to be seen and I traveled on my own to Cologne to be part of it. This year there were a few of AHQ Heroes present and I also got to see some old friend from the German Community. Even more visitors than the past years found their way to Cologne. The queues were long and some had to be temporarily closed off for new players. Like every year there were also quite a few awards to be given away.…

Gamescom 2017
Summary As in previous years, Gamescom took place in Cologne with almost 355’000 visitors. Young and old, male and female, exhibitors, trade visitors, private visitors and press. All poured through the halls and aisles and a lot of them stood in line for up to 6 hours to play their favorite game before it’s released. There were several awards given to games as every year. My favorite areas this year were the enlarged Family & Friends corner as well as the Indie Booth and the retro gaming booth that were both larger then before and had just as many visitors. It…

Gamescom 2014 Preview: Crinrict plays
Introduction I was invited by EA Germany to attend Gamescom like the two years before. I like to say thank you for the opportunity again. I had a lot of fun and it’s always great to meet the other community members to talk and catch up. Next to the convention itself, I also had access to the EA Community Lounge and had the opportunity to play Sims 4 myself. Everyone had a slot to play the game for two hours. Since it wasn’t forbidden to watch over each others shoulders or to use an empty computer if that wasn’t taken,…

Gamescom 2014 Preview: A look at the GUI
The GUI in Live mode is divided in several sections. Upper Left The upper left corner is mostly unoccupied. You will only see a menu if you hold a party or go on a date. The menu shows a main goal and some tasks which you can try to achieve optionally. For each fulfilled task you’ll get points and after time runs out you get a medal. If you achieved gold you also get an object. Lower Left Here you can see the emotion your Sim currently has. It is indicated by the Sims picture, the color and a text.…

Crin goes to Gamescom
Dear readers, I’ve posted a few not-help-blog-like posts over the past few days. The reason why is that – as many other German fan sites – I was invited to go to Gamescom in Cologne, Germany. I was able to see a closed door presentation about Supernatural and Seasons and had the opportunity to play Supernatural for a bit. The two days were epic and I really enjoyed meeting people from other fan sites and to chat with the moderators of the German official forum. It was a pity that the producers didn’t have more time, I would have loved a…

Crinrict in Moonlight Falls
Gamescom Information on Supernatural The new town Moonlight Falls is crawling with supernatural beings. There are fairies, werewolves, ghosts, witches and vampires but also a few normal Sims. You can meet the three Goth ghosts Samuel, Frida and Olivia, the family Wolff (werewolves of course) and the Crumplebottom Witches Beatrice, Belinda and Bianca. There are a few flat-sharing Sims, the Singhs, McDuffs, Knopfler, Ivy, Grimm and what their names are (note that the names are from the German version of the Game). They are great to test them out before diving into your own game. The landscape is rather flat which…
