[SIMS 2] Ultimate Collection Update removes SecuRom
Today the Sims 2 Ultimate Collection got a small update that brings the game more inline with Origin. Downloading and testing reveals, that this means SecuRom has finally been removed from the Ultimate Collection which gives it much better compatibility with Windows 10 as SecuRom and Win 10 don’t like each other very much. The update probably won’t remove SecuRom from your computer if you already have it. To remove SecuROM from your computer, you can use the SecuRom Removal Tool. Sims 2 should continue to function as it should after doing so. The price for this change is that…

City Living Event in Cologne
Introduction As for other expansions before I followed an invitation from EA Germany to the City Living event in Cologne and was able to get an impression of what we can expect with the new expansion pack. The event was taking place at the Unitymedia Medialofts. We were well taken care of and could enjoy some international food at the lunch buffet. We were able to play the game for about 6 hours after an approx. 20 min presentation by SimGuruGrant. It was not possible to import any existing Sims or savegames so that we all started with a brand new game. Since…

Get Together – Producer Event in Cologne
Introduction EA Germany invited quite a few fan sites to check out Get Together at their German headquarter in Cologne. Apart from a short Q/A with Graham Nardone through Skype, we had the opportunity to test the new expansion pack for 6 hours and take some screenshots home for you guys. Be aware that all of these are in German since that was the language the game was installed in. My green Freezer Bunny accompanied me and checked out all the decoration and surroundings. 6 hours are long .. but also very short. We could not test everything and many questions…

Get To work – Producer Event in Cologne
Introduction The producer event to Get to Work in Cologne was a great adventure as always and we had tons of fun. It was great to see everyone and meet new people and the rich food buffet was great too. A big thank you to everyone involved. Unfortunately we didn’t get to see the presentation since something was broken but SimGuruAzure gave us a short introduction and then we had about 5 hours hands-on time with the new expansion. This is of course not enough to test everything thoroughly but it gave us enough time to take a look at…

Gamescom 2014 Preview: Crinrict plays
Introduction I was invited by EA Germany to attend Gamescom like the two years before. I like to say thank you for the opportunity again. I had a lot of fun and it’s always great to meet the other community members to talk and catch up. Next to the convention itself, I also had access to the EA Community Lounge and had the opportunity to play Sims 4 myself. Everyone had a slot to play the game for two hours. Since it wasn’t forbidden to watch over each others shoulders or to use an empty computer if that wasn’t taken,…

Gamescom 2014 Preview: A look at the GUI
The GUI in Live mode is divided in several sections. Upper Left The upper left corner is mostly unoccupied. You will only see a menu if you hold a party or go on a date. The menu shows a main goal and some tasks which you can try to achieve optionally. For each fulfilled task you’ll get points and after time runs out you get a medal. If you achieved gold you also get an object. Lower Left Here you can see the emotion your Sim currently has. It is indicated by the Sims picture, the color and a text.…

Sims 4 – Animations and Multitasking
Marion Gothier (SimGuruMarion) showed us the last Master Class at SimsCamp: Animations and Multitasking. As everything else, the stuff shown is still in an early state and many things can change. Everything that was shown to us does work in the game at the moment although Marion only showed pre-recorded videos from within the game. Sims 4 Sims should be less robotic and a lot more human. That lead to the identification of four major aspects in animations: More natural animations, better routing, better social interactions in groups and multitasking. Natural Animation As you can see in the gameplay trailer,…

Sims 4 – Buy & Build Mode
The third Sims 4 presentation was about Buy & Build Mode. Aaron Houts (SimGuruHouts) showed us the new features and how fast you can now build a house. Build Mode Build mode is now very modular. The player can build a fancy house with a few clicks. Rooms can be made bigger and smaller by pulling and pushing. Already placed furniture that doesn’t fit anymore is simply placed in your inventory. Walls that touch to form a closed area are recognized as room by the game. Those rooms can then be rotated and moved. This way you can completely change your…

Sims 4 – Emotions
One of the biggest new features that will come with Sims 4 are emotions. Sims are no longer keeping their feelings to themselves, they show you if they are happy, sad or angry. This shows in their faces as well as in the way they walk. Grant Rodiek (SimGuruGrant) introduced us to the topic. You can get a first impression yourself by watching the second part on the official Sims 4 Gameplay Video which shows part of what we got to see too. A warning up front The system is new and there are many things that will still change…
